I came to Riverside in 2016 as a practice administrator because I wanted a job where I felt I would be making a difference. Previously I had worked in medical purchasing, but this job appealed to me as it has a much closer relationship with the people, or animals, who are benefiting from my work. The job is very varied, it is not just a boring desk job, I get to interact with the clients and animals as well, and do a bit of whatever needs to be done.
I also do some reception work, helping at busy times or covering if someone is off. To help with this side of things I have started working through the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) Bronze Award.
I have a BA in photography and I use this to do some freelance wedding work. I am also interested in films and film history. I like any films except for rom-coms but I find the lesser know films more interesting. I like reading too, especially autobiographies and political and travel books.
We had cats when I was a child, as well as budgies and goldfish. I now have a little jack russell called Indie, and it is great that I can bring him to work with me sometimes. I love sharks, I think they are one of natures most amazing machines and I would love to get the chance to swim with them one day and see them up close.
