Job Title: Student Vet Nurse
Joined Riverside in: 2021
Pets: Horse
Animal she would be: Snake

I had been in my previous job for 3 years and I felt I had taken all I could from that role when the position at Riverside came along. I previously worked on a stud yard breeding and producing Arabian horses for endurance riding and I was looking for a new direction that would still enable me to work with animals. I actually applied for a receptionist position but was delighted when I was offered the Nursing Assistant role instead as this gives me more active contact with the patients. Since then I have actually been asked to join the nursing team and I am really enjoying working towards my nursing qualification.

I have always been interested in working with animals one way or another and I have a BSc(hons) in Animal Science from Glyndwr University. The thing I like most about this job is meeting all the animals and their owners, and I am finding new things to learn every day. It's a bonus that I get to stay warm inside in the winter too - I think I would be snake as I hate being cold.

Outside of work my main hobby is horse riding. I have a horse called Hafez,  we compete in endurance riding and I am currently training him up the levels. I hope to qualify for some competitive classes with him next year. I also enjoy scrapbooking, I love taking photos and organising little memories into the book. It's lovely to look back over them in a year or two to remember all the things that get forgotten in time.
