I started at Riverside in 2014 when I was studying a Foundation Degree in Animal Health and Welfare. I came to work on saturdays as work experience for the course. When a full time recesptionist position came available I was offered the job so I now do week days and some Saturdays and I work in both Abergavenny and Ebbw Vale surgeries.
I always wanted to work with animals in general so the best part of the job is getting to "smoosh" the patients when they come in. I do like talking to their owners too though. I am working through the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) Bronze Award at the moment.
I love cats, hence the nickname "Crazy Cat Lady", and through working at Riverside I have become a fosterer for the Cats Protection, so as well as my own 6 cats at home I have various foster cats and kittens living with me too. Astro, my labrador, takes it very well. He's a big softy, but he does get a bit scared of the kittens sometimes.
My hobbies include buying books and never having time to read them, I like horror movies and anything Disney. But most of my time is taken up with looking after my little boy, and caring for the cats. The foster cats often have extra needs while they are in care as they may be unwell or have behaviour issues. When I get chance I would like to study more about cat behaviour, and one of my bucket list items would be to spend some time doing voluntary work at an elephant sanctuary.
